Gyoda City, Saitama Prefecture, is the number one tabi town in Japan. For over 100 years since its founding, Isami Corporation has been dedicated to making tabi socks. For the next step, we have chosen the material: apples.

Apple peels and pomace are inevitably left over during the process of making juice or cider. These are dried, powdered, and reused (upcycled) to create "apple leather (apple skin)."

The crimson model, named "Akibae," expresses a sweet, deep red, like the Nagano-born variety of the same name, while "Black Diamond," as its name suggests, emits a powerful yet elegant jet-black glow, like a black diamond.

[Three reasons to choose us]

1. No need to worry about rainy days. Traditional tabi socks made of cloth or genuine leather have the drawback of getting wet, but apple leather has excellent water repellency. It is resistant to soaking even in sudden rain, and even if it gets dirty, you can just wipe it off quickly. You can go out in your favorite kimono or stroll through a garden after a rain without worrying about getting your feet dirty.

2. Surprisingly light and soft. Although they are called "leather," they are overwhelmingly lighter than genuine leather. You'll be amazed at how soft they are the moment you put your feet in them. Even if you're wearing tabi for the first time, they won't cause blisters and will easily conform to your feet.

3. "Beauty" that suits both modern Japanese and Western styles. The delicate grain (uneven surface) unique to apple leather and its matte sheen create a luxurious feel. We recommend pairing them with kimonos and yukatas, as well as denim and wide-leg pants for a fashionable look. They will be the focal point of your outfit all year round, regardless of the season.
