What is Bushu Shoaizome?
An indigo-dyed cotton cloth produced in Hanyu and Kazo, Saitama. Its origins are said to go back to the Tenmei era (1781–1789). It is known for dye taken from indigo leaves and naturally fermented. Because the cloth is strong, it has often been used for kendo uniforms, and it is also called "Bushu indigo weave."
