Nobiru means "to stretch." These tabi (Japanese split-toe socks) are made from a fabric that stretches more easily than calico. It gives widthwise, so they are easy to wear.
It stretches sideways
The outer fabric is a blend of 25% polyester, 69% cotton and 6% polyurethane, so it stretches more easily than calico and is easy to wear. The stretch runs widthwise: picture the fabric giving from side to side as you wear it.
For everyday wear and for ceremonies
Their formal look suits ceremonies as well as everyday wear.
